CampusRide (getcampusride.com) is a ride service for Landmark University, Omu-Aran. Students book a ride across campus or a seat on the campus shuttle and pay from a campus wallet; drivers receive the requests and are paid for the rides they give. This policy explains what we collect to run that, why, who it goes to, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Who can use CampusRide

Students and staff sign in with a Landmark University account (an address ending in @lmu.edu.ng), through Google or with an email and password. Drivers are added by CampusRide and sign in with their phone number and a password.

What we collect from students

  • Your account: your name, university email address and, if you sign in with Google, your profile photo. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider (Google Firebase); we never see them.
  • Your rides and shuttle seats: the pickup and drop-off points you choose, the time, the vehicle type, the fare, what happened to the ride (completed, cancelled, missed, refunded), the driver who took it, and the 4-digit code you give the driver to board.
  • Reports: if you report a ride, the reason you choose and any note you write.
  • Your wallet: your balance and a history of top-ups, fares and refunds, including the Paystack reference for each top-up.

What we collect from drivers

  • Name, phone number, photo, vehicle type, description and plate number.
  • Bank account details (bank, account number and account name) to pay you, which we check with Paystack.
  • The rides and seats you take, what you earn, and what you have been paid.
  • A notification token for your phone, so new ride requests can reach you.

What we don't collect

  • Your location. CampusRide has no GPS or live tracking. A pickup is a campus stop you pick from a list.
  • Card or bank details from students. Payments are made on Paystack's own page. Your card number, PIN, OTP and bank login go to Paystack, not to us.
  • Students' phone numbers, and anything to do with advertising. We don't run ads or sell data.

How we use it

To run the service and nothing else: to sign you in, match a ride with a driver, let the driver confirm the right passenger, keep wallet balances and refunds correct, pay drivers, look into reports and disputes (for example, whether a driver came for a ride), and keep the service working and secure.

Who it's shared with

  • Drivers: when you request a ride, the available drivers it's offered to see your name and your pickup and drop-off points so they can decide to accept. The driver of your ride or shuttle run sees them too. You see your driver's name, photo, vehicle and plate number.
  • Google Firebase stores accounts and app data and handles sign-in.
  • Paystack processes wallet top-ups and payments to drivers.
  • Vercel hosts the website. It also measures how fast pages load (Speed Insights), using anonymous performance data that doesn't identify you.

We share information with anyone else only if the law requires it, or to deal with a safety issue.

Stored on your device

Your light or dark theme choice and your saved stops are kept in your own browser, not on our servers. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Account information is kept while your account is open. Ride, wallet and payment records are kept for as long as we need them to settle balances, handle disputes and meet our record-keeping obligations, even after an account is closed. Information we no longer need is deleted.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Email us at the address below and we'll reply within 30 days. Deleting an account doesn't erase records we must keep (see above), and any wallet balance should be settled first. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with Google Firebase. A ride's details can only be seen by the student, the drivers it was offered to and CampusRide's administrators, and boarding codes are only shown to the student who booked.

Changes

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
